Shared experience - Common Values Training

I had attended this training with different ethnic people since 2019.It has two topics, storytelling facilitator and interview. This training goal is exchange between youth, dialogue between Muslim and Buddhist communities and also storytelling to exchange own experiences and understand each other better. There are different visions of peace and different way to create a more peaceful surrounding.Peace is not something stable ,we have to work to maintain it everybody can contribute to peace .At first, we introduced each other as a friend.we told each other one story ,one situation that we have experienced when we helped create peace. If someone told a story ,we listen carefully and respectfully to each other. We asked questions about story after the story is finished. We respect each other and try to understand other's emotions, wishes and fears. At the same time ,we did an activity.

We debated about it with my friend. We made a skit about that.

Conflict supporting narrative

• Help society to adapt to conflict and have a conflict supporting effect.
• Justify violence and destruction by own group members
• Prepare siciety for more hardship
• Enable maintenance of positive self -preception

Peace Supporting Narratives:

•acknowledge own AND other sides'bfailure and wrongdoing
•promote understanding and acceptance of others' grievances
• analyze complex conflict causes
• foster critical self-reflection
• depict complex reasons for individual choices and behavior
• avoid stereotypes (good & bad)

Structure of the Narrative Interview

1.Entry Question and main Narrative

We told our lifestory ,from the beginning up to now, everything that's important to us.If someone told their lifestory,we would not interrupt you or ask question, just take some notes.
The interviewer should:
• Pay full attention
• Not interrupt
• Support the account with neutral question
-what happened afterwards?
-what else do you remember?
• Let the interviewee finish the account
• Take notes
2.Internal Question

We started asking questions only after the interviewee ends the main narrative. When they told their lifestory,we have some unclear topics. That time we must need to ask open question about typical situation.

3.External Question

We started asking external questions only after all internal questions have been answered.we asked about topics that have not yet been address which was storytelling questions.

In the end ,when the time comes them to difficult or sad topics,we will  go back to star story and ask only open question, that cann't be answerd with yes or no.We don't ask when? why? how much?

I got a lot of experience this training
